So I don't remember what time it was at this point, but it was getting pretty late and it was rather warm, and the snow wasn't looking terribly great as far as avalanches are concerned (this is what Nate told me, I had absolutely no clue myself). And frankly, I was pretty exhausted. And Nate's heels weren't gettin any better. Ergo, we decided to bag the idea of reaching the summit and just go as far as the snow would safely let us. That turned out to be up to a little over 8,000 feet. Then we sat down, had a snack, took in the view, and prepared for the descent.
